The Cupids Series – Thai Drama Review
Long ago (well depending on when you read this) I wrote a post about short K-Dramas worth watching. In that post I gave a lovely analogy, about how short dramas are similar to a slice cake. Small, sweet, and satisfying.
Disclaimer -That statement only applied to KOREAN Dramas.
Short Thai Dramas are different. I love comparing these short dramas to a lemon your friend dared you to suck on for a minute. You can’t wait for that minute to be over, so you can spit that bitter item out and for the trauma to end.
Of course I’m not saying all short thai dramas are horrible, but I can count on one hand the amount of short shows that I enjoyed enough to actually recommend.
The Cupids Series is about a matchmaking company, Cupid Hut, that is run by Peem. The company has been failing to hit its income goals, and Peem believes the problem is caused by the companies cupids. The cupids are 8 (single) woman who run different departments within the company.
To fix the company’s financial problem Peem gives the girls an ultimatum. The girls are to find boyfriends before next Valentine’s Day and receive a 1 million baht (about $30,000 usd) raise or lose their jobs because the company will close.
A boss that forces his employees to date in order to keep their jobs is just… wrong. It’s almost like he’s pimpin his hoes out or something. I don’t want to watch a show that forces women to date, but with such an attractive cast lined up I decided to jump in and try it out.
And I’m still trying to decide if I regret that decision or not
Overall the series hasn’t been horrible, but some shows within the series have been better than others. If I had to rank the shows, it would look something like this:
- Kammathep Jum Laeng
- Kammathep Ork Suek
- Kammathep Online
- Kammathep Sorn Kol
- Kamathep Prab Marn
- Sorn Ruk Kammathep
- Kammathep Hunsa
- Loob Kom Kammathep
#1 Kammathep Jum Laeng, is my favorite out of the entire series! #2-3 are both good, and honestly I like both almost equally. I only put Kammathep Ork Suek as #2 because I like the plot just a little more. #7-8 are okay. I thought I was watching a romantic comedy not a cross between James Bond and Lost.
I’ll be posting some bite-size reviews so that I can go into more detail about each show. You can find these reviews under the Reviews tab, or just check this post to see which new reviews I’ve posted.
